Outdoor Retailer 2015 Recap

On August 3rd the SlingFin monkeys departed California for what would be a week long adventure at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City! For those of you who don’t know, Outdoor Retailer is a huge outdoor industry trade show where people from all over the globe come to geek out on the new gear debuting for the next season. Needless to say, we couldn’t wait to be a part of the fun again this year!

Rolling in EARLY Tuesday morning, we set up our small encampment in Tent City and awaited the visitors we would be receiving the next several days. We had a prime location right by the entrance to Tent City from the street and also the convention center itself, garnering extensive foot traffic!

One of our favorite things about attending OR is that we get to put faces to the names we see on emails and also meet new interested parties. We were able to sit down and geek out over tents with people from all over the United States and also from other countries.

One of our “biggest” eye-catchers was our freshly debuted Kahiltna Dome, as seen being set up in this photo. Five meters in diameter, it stood out in Tent City attracting all kinds of attention. We also debuted our lightweight 4-season tent, the WindSaber. Keep an eye out for it in the future! As for now, you can see it in the topmost picture. It’s the tent with the orange fly in the foreground.

Our 3-season backpacking tents were also show stoppers. The weight to volume ratio is a true story that caught most people’s attention. The 2Lite and CrossBow2 series both provide more body and vestibule volume than most other tents in the same weight class. Not to mention the dry entries the vestibules also provide! We currently have ALL models of our 3-season tents in stock and ready to find new homes.

And it wasn’t all work and no fun… SlingFin monkeys will be SlingFin monkeys! We got put up by a S.L.C. local who owns a boxing gym. We of course had to don their boxing robes and get our sweat on in the gym!  Until next next time, go forth and adventure!
